Leisa Reichelt:

Hello and welcome to the School Can't Experience Podcast. I'm Leisa Reichelt, and this podcast is brought to you by the School Can't Australia community. Today we have a short bonus episode that's just a bit of an update and a reflection on the year that has been. I wanted to start by letting you know about an event that's coming up on January 22nd, where School Can't Australia are going to be holding a virtual launch of their brand new ebook called Understanding School Can't: A Guide for Parents and Carers. Now to celebrate this launch, I am delighted to be hosting a live Lived Experience panel on Zoom with a few of our amazing Lived Experience guests from the year. And you are invited to come join us. We are gonna be discussing things that we wish we'd known earlier in our School Can't journey, things we've learned the hard way. And a whole host of other tidbits of School Can't Lived Experience advice. You can register to attend this virtual event using the link that's in the episode notes, and I would love to see you there. Now, at the beginning of this year, I had never made a podcast in my life and I have been very much learning on the go. It's been quite the learning curve, but also one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. It might not be the most technically perfect podcast ever made, but the honesty, the wisdom, the shared experiences have always felt very important to me. And I want to say a huge thank you to every guest who has given their time to be on the podcast this year. Our amazing expert guests. But in particular, the people who have shared their lived experience of School Can't over the past year. Telling these stories takes so much courage, but they fill such a vacuum for those of us who are on a similar journey and often haven't met another person having these experiences. If you might consider sharing some of your lived experience in the new year, please get in touch and let me know, and I would love to hear from you. I am also deeply grateful to the School Can't Australia leadership, especially Tiffany and Louise for their support and Jane for her social media magic. And thanks to you, to everyone who has listened, shared episodes, offered feedback or suggested topics. This podcast exists because of you. And I know many of you are living through seasons of uncertainty, transition, and re-imagining what learning and family life might look like. If that's you, I want you to know you are not alone. As we plan next year's podcast content, I would love to hear from you. What have you found most helpful in the podcast this year, and what would you like to hear more of in the new year? You can email us your thoughts to schoolcantpodcast@gmail.com or use the Send Us A Text link in the episode notes to send a brief message. We are moving into the holiday season and I hope there is space for rest or at least some moments of relief, and we are gonna take some time out from new episodes until later in January. So feel free to go back and listen to episodes you might have missed or catch up on an old favorite you'd like to hear again. As we move towards the new year, my hope for all of us is for more regulated nervous systems, more trusting relationships and more discovering different ways of learning in whatever way works best for you and your family. Thank you so much for being here, for listening and for walking this difficult path alongside us. Take care and I'll see you in the new year.
